Finding a good Joiner or Carpenter

Carpenter

Needing something built? Then check out both the telephone book and the internet as a way of making your search the more complete. In the back section of your phone book there is a section for construction and carpentry. To find the same in a search engine, type in Joiner or carpenter and the location that you wish to search in. This will bring back results for your area or around your current living area. These lists will have the telephone number that you can call to speak with someone for hire.

In searching for a good carpenter/joiner there are several questions that you need to ask of this person or company: How long have you been in business? What is your rating? May I talk to some of your clients? Do you have a license? And other such questions need to be asked before proceeding. There are also word of mouth referrals and asking a local builder that you trust for help in this area. Local builders will know who is who and can advise you on some names to check out. This also holds true for those NOT to hire. They keep their ears to the ground and usually know who is good and who isn’t.

With that said, you can also search through the internet for someone in your area. Usually if they have a website, all information is there on site. This will save you from having to repeat your questions. However if that information isn’t there then by all means ask! Call and talk to the person in question and make an appointment to meet with the individual of choice so that a face to face discussion can be held about what you need in a carpenter/joiner for your particular project.

It is a manner of habit to check references for all that you interview. This may seem like too much work, but on the other hand, doing this will help keep you from being eaten alive by a fake carpenter. This cannot be stated enough. There are those that are just scam artists out there waiting for a tender lamb to fall into their lap. Don’t be that tender lamb and get sheared with nothing to show except shoddy work. By asking questions, checking licenses and references, you will get a quality carpenter for whatever project that you need.
